Obituary

Agnes S.C. (Russell) Henry, age 88, a resident of Attleboro, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman Howard Henry with whom she shared 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2021.

She was born in Paisley, Scotland; a daughter of the late William and Agnes (Campbell) Russell. Known for her independence and her roles as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Agnes's life was marked by her dedication to her family and her numerous interests.

Agnes cherished her family above all. Many of her favorite memories were created alongside her husband and children, particularly during family vacations on Cape Cod, where they enjoyed staying in cottages by the sea. Agnes's grandchildren adored her as she played a huge role in their lives. She attended graduations, birthdays, and other landmark events whenever possible. She was also an integral part of the family's annual Memorial Day camping trip, an event that brought much joy and laughter to all involved.

In her personal time, Agnes was an avid cook and a collector of recipes. Agnes also had a passion for history, was a huge fan of the New England Patriots, and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She loved dining out, bargain shopping, and going on outings with friends.

One of Agnes's most cherished trips was a Mediterranean cruise with her husband, Norman, which she often recounted as their best vacation. She was so in awe of seeing so much from the history she had learned about all her life right before her eyes. This trip highlighted her love for adventure, and spending quality time with her loved ones.

Agnes's life was one of vibrant engagement with the world around her, always eager to learn, share, and experience new things with those she loved. She will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by her children, Karen E. Girczyc and her husband Andrew of Attleboro, Mark W. Henry and his wife Matilde of N. Providence, and Linda A. Ryder and her husband Douglas of N. Dighton; her sister Jane "Jean" Garrott; her grandchildren, Katherine (Henry) Sullivan and her husband Brendan of Pawtucket, RI, Allison Girczyc of Swansea, Elizabeth (Girczyc) Afonso and her husband Matthew of Cumberland, RI, Matthew Girczyc of Attleboro and Jazlyn Ryder of N. Dighton; her great grandchildren, Mason Phommakoth and Addison Afonso along with many nieces and nephews.
