Obituary

Asa P. White, a lifelong resident of Attleboro, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the age of 88.

He was born in Attleboro; son of the late Harold and Ellen (Benson) White.

Asa spent his entire life in Attleboro, where he cultivated a deep connection to his community and the natural world around him. A man of many talents and passions, Asa was known for his artistic eye and technical skill. He worked for many years as a die cutter and engraver at Balfour, where his precision and dedication left a lasting impression.

Asa was a gifted artist and photographer whose work reflected his appreciation for beauty in both nature and everyday life. His love for the outdoors was evident in his active lifestyle. Asa walked daily and was an avid mountain climber and hiker. A proud member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, Asa achieved the remarkable feat of climbing 50 mountains before reaching the age of 50.

His contributions to maritime heritage were recognized with the honorary title of Rear Admiral of the USS Constitution, a distinction that reflected his enduring support and involvement over the years. Asa also held a deep fascination with ships, planes and trains, interests that complemented his inquisitive mind and love for history.

A proud Mayflower descendant, Asa took great pride in his heritage. He was an avid reader with a particular interest in American and English history, always eager to expand his knowledge.

He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Asa was predeceased by his three brothers: Alvin A. White, Russell White, and David D. White.

Honoring his wishes all services will be held privately and he will be laid to rest with his parents in Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro.
