Barbara
Germain
d. Jul 21, 2026
New Bedford
Barbara "Barb" (Young) Germain died July 21, 2026, at the age of 62, with her daughter by her side. After a 7 year battle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that spread to her bones.
Born July 5, 1964, in Putnam Connecticut to Phylis and Eugene Young. Barbara graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School in Thompson, Connecticut in 1983.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Heather Germain, son-in-law Timothy Farley, grandchildren, Cillian Farley and Madison Farley. Her father Eugene Young. Her brothers, Harold, Jamie, Eugene "JR" Young, and sister Sue.
Barbara will be remembered for her strength and sense of humor. Her kindness and ability to make everyone around her laugh and smile. Before cancer she loved always being active, playing softball and coaching her daughters softball team and going to watch her grandson, Cillian play T-Ball. She loved dancing and singing, going to the beach and being social, at work, with friends and family. She had a crazy love for the Patriots, and always said she wanted to get on the field, and would yell at every play of every game.
In the last 6 and a half years what she loved most was living with her daughter and family in Fall River. She loved being a Nana to her 2 grandchildren. She adored spending all the time she could with them and making memories with them, she said they kept her fighting. She would spend hours watching them play outside, birdwatching, dance parties, playing games, and movie nights. She would spend time helping with homework, coloring pictures and reading stories. She was always thinking of others even in pain and suffering. She loved catching up with her family and friends and always made sure she called her father every night when she could. She was a person of tremendous strength, and a heart so full of love. She will be deeply missed.
Barbara did not want services, just a celebration of life event. Details will follow once planned and booked.
