NEW BEDFORD- Betzaida "Betsy" Acevedo, 64, passed away on June 10, 2024.

Betsy was born in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Mariana Acevedo and Manuel Acevedo Vera.

Betsy was employed locally as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed books by James Patterson. She always enjoyed playing bingo and watching her True Crime shows on television. Betsy will be remembered by her loving family as a kind, outgoing and outspoken woman with a wonderful sense of humor.

Betsy is survived by her children, Yanitza Valentine, Yarilee Martinez and Manuel Martinez all of New Bedford; siblings, Sonya, Ivelise, Wito, and Jose Acevedo all of Puerto Rico; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Sigfredo Martinez and sister of the late Victor Acevedo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 4-7pm in the Donaghy-New Day Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford.

Prayers will begin at 6:30pm in the funeral home.
