Obituary

Bruce William Manchester
10/27/54 - 12/6/25

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we bid farewell to Bruce William Manchester, who passed away on the early morning of December 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

He grew up in Fall River, MA and was a 1972 graduate of Diman Regional Technical High School, where he applied his passion for cars and fixing them up, to the study of mechanics. A few years after graduation, he got married, started a family and made a home on Bulgarmarsh Road, in Tiverton, RI, where he lived out his years.

Bruce was a free spirit who loved to have a good time but he also knew how to embrace and appreciate the simple things in life. He loved quiet time in nature, going for a drive, loved the ocean, going fishing or metal detecting and spending time in the mountains of New Hampshire with family and friends.

He also loved listening to music and going to concerts, cheering on a Boston Bruins game, plumbing with his son-in-law and enjoying his favorite snacks of crackers or gingerbread with a good, strong cup of coffee.

But of all the many things in life that he loved and enjoyed, he held the love of his family above all else, especially the cherished times he spent with his only granddaughter, Violet, who was the pride and joy of his heart and soul. When gathered with family and friends, he could often be heard cracking jokes, laughing devilishly and telling crazy stories of the past, which many times involved all the adventures, mischief and hijinx he got into as a kid with his many siblings. His love of storytelling spilled over into his love for writing and researching his family's genealogy - which became a passion project of his for many years.

His roots of loyalty for his family ran deep and those he loved knew his generosity of spirit knew no bounds. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. No questions asked, he would drop everything and go where he was needed. He was also known to show up at your house on a Saturday morning and leave a box of your favorite pastry at the door or leave something else he thought you might need or enjoy.

In these ways and many more, Bruce left a huge imprint in the lives and hearts of those he knew and loved and he will be forever and sorely missed. May his spirit continue to shine bright and free out into the universe, and may he always rest in the peace and comfort of God's love and light.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife Elaine Manchester (Braga) of 48 years, his daughter Melissa Pacheco (Manchester) and husband Patrick, his son Craig Manchester and his partner Jessica Siiro and his granddaughter Violet Manchester; his siblings Harry Manchester and wife Faye, David Manchester and wife Barbara, Nancy Isaac (Manchester) and husband Jack, Alice Walsh (Manchester) and her late husband Ron, Ralph Manchester and his late wife Debbie, Roger Manchester and his wife Luisa; his mother-in-law Lorraine Braga and many, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harry Manchester and Similda Manchester (Leblanc) and his brother Russell Manchester.
