NEW BEDFORD-Carmen Almeyda Gonzalez, 65, passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2024.

Carmen was born in Aguadilla Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Nemesio Almeyda and Zulma (Gonzalez).

Carmen was a woman of deep religious conviction. Her faith and family always came first. She enjoyed watching comedy shows and will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. Carmen cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Carmen Ferrer and her husband Ramon, Zulma Ferrer and Jose Ferrer and his wife Esmeralda all of New Bedford, Jessica Torres and her husband Emmanuel of FL and Sheila Esther of Fall River; siblings, Ana E. Bonilla, Olga L. Almeyda, Jose F. Almeyda and his wife Maribel, Margarita Almeyda, Consuelo Almeyda, Sandra Victor and her husband Rodney and Maria Almeyda Gonzalez; and a large extended family.

She was the sister of the late Nemesio Almeyda Sosa and Jose R. Almeyda

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, June 17, 2024 from 9-11 am in the Donaghy-New Day Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford. Prayers will begin at 11am in the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
