ATTLEBORO- Charlene Ruth Stringham, a lifelong resident of the Attleboro area, who peacefully departed this world on May 1, 2026, at the age of 72. She was the wife of the late David Mark Stringham.
Charlene was born in Providence and was the daughter of the late John Barnes and Marion (Thacker), and spent her formative years in Warwick. She was a proud graduate of Pilgrim High School, later continuing her education at Bryant University (formerly College), where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. In college she worked at Warwick Musical Theatre where she met countless popular musicians. Charlene's passion for numbers and meticulous nature led her to a fulfilling career as an accountant, dedicating many years of service to Eastern Case Parts Company. Charlene's independent spirit was matched only by her wonderful dry sense of humor, which brought joy to those around her. She was an accomplished bowler traveling across the country for tournaments, guitarist, vivacious reader, an avid traveler, and cherished her trips to Alaska, where she found beauty and inspiration in the great outdoors. She also loved the Bruins!
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Rebecca Stringham; her brothers, John Barnes and Robert Barnes; as well as her beloved grandchildren: Joseph, Mykaela, and Lycan. Charlene will also be remembered fondly by her many nieces and nephews, who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Charlene's life at a visitation scheduled for May 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with prayers at 6:30 PM, in the Foley-Cook-New Day Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Charlene's memory to the Massachusetts Audubon Society.
