Dale M. (Fernandes) Brooks, 74, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on September 10, 2026.

Born in Harwich, Massachusetts, on February 24, 1952, she was the daughter of Jovinal Fernandes and Priscilla (Gonsalves) Beard. After graduating from Dennis-Yarmouth High School in 1971, Dale devoted herself to supporting her family through her work at a candle factory, as a housekeeper, and in the restaurant industry.

Kindhearted and generous, Dale was always willing to share what she had with someone in need. She treasured time with her children Tamijka and Damien; her grandchildren, Dae’von and London; and her many relatives and friends. Her faith in the Lord was at the heart of her life, and she was baptized in 2023. Dale also found joy in singing, listening to music, and spending time by the water at the beach. She will be fondly remembered for her impeccable sense of style and the care she took in coordinating every outfit from head to toe.

Dale was predeceased by her husband Robert “Bobby” Odell Brooks; her parents Jovinal Fernandes and Priscilla (Gonsalves) Beard; and her brothers David Marceline and Marcus E. Fernandes. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Tamijka Fernandes; her son Damien Fernandes and his longtime companion Tanya Brillant; her grandchildren Dae’Von and London Fernandes; her brothers Jamie Beard and Jovinal Fernandes Jr.; her sister Alicia Marceline; her cherished friend of more than 40 years Maria Zaragoza; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026 2PM - 5PM in the Donaghy New Day Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford, MA.
