Deborah
Buttlar
May 1, 2025
ATTLEBORO - Deborah Buttlar, 63, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in South Boston to the late John and Ruth (Greenstein) Leach. Deborah lived a life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
A woman of deep spiritual conviction, Deborah loved the Lord with all her heart. Her faith was the foundation of her strength and compassion—a guiding light that shaped every aspect of her life. She extended kindness to everyone she met and was known for her selflessness. Whether it was offering the shirt off her back or giving her last dollar to someone in need, Deborah's generosity knew no bounds.
To those who knew her best, Deborah's home was more than just a place—it was a sanctuary. Her door was always open to neighborhood kids who found comfort in her warmth and acceptance. Friends often called her "Mom," preferring to spend time with her over anyone else. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel like family.
Deborah's legacy is woven into countless memories: endless hours spent playing cribbage—her favorite game—and late nights filled with laughter over hands of spades. She wore her heart on her sleeve and gave everything she could to those she loved. Though she wasn't perfect—as she herself might have said—she gave wholeheartedly with what she had.
Her family shared how much Deborah meant not only to their family but to the entire community: "Her place was always a safe spot… she loved wholeheartedly… our friends called her Mom." Her kids shared this heartfelt tribute: "I'm proud of her for being the best mom I could've ever imagined… rest in peace Momma—you're my angel now."
Deborah leaves behind not only a loving family but also the memory of a woman who lived with purpose and passion. Her beloved dog Angel remains as a gentle reminder of the companionship she treasured.
Her legacy will live on through the stories shared around kitchen tables, the laughter echoing from card games played late into the night, and the enduring love she poured into every relationship.
Deborah was a devoted mother and Nana whose love for her children and grandchildren was boundless. She is lovingly remembered by her children Michael Buttlar and his wife Jessica Cochrane, Matthew Buttlar and his wife Ann, and Lyndsey Massey and her husband Justin, her grandchildren Mia, Gianni, Kali, Julian, Matthew Jr, Jade, Makenzy and her husband James, and Justin Jr, her great-grandson Devon and her precious dog Angel.
Please join Deborah's family for a celebration of life, rain or shine, on June 8th at Slater Park, 401 Newport Ave, Site 10-12, Pawtucket, RI from 12-6pm. Hamburgers, hot dogs, water, and soda will be provided. In lieu of flowers, please bring a dish.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Foley-Cook New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, Attleboro.
