NEW BEDFORD-Deborah Jane Fleet, August 9, 1961 – February 13, 2025.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Deborah Jane Fleet on February 13, 2025, after a short period of declining health.

Deborah was born on August 9, 1961, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. In 1968, she moved with her family to New Bedford, settling in the South End. Deborah was a 1979 graduate of New Bedford High school where she played girls' varsity softball. A 1982 auto accident left her with a severe spinal cord injury. Undaunted, she developed a natural talent for oil painting, creating dozens of works enjoyed by many. A devout Christian, she was known for her fierce independence, good humor and passionate love for animals.

Deborah was the daughter of the late Richard L. and Harriette E. Fleet and is survived by her brother, Charlie, of Seattle, WA.

Deborah requested that anyone wishing to honor her memory to please donate to the animal welfare organization of their choice.
