Obituary

Donald Aubin, 86, a proud U.S. Navy veteran, passed away peacefully Monday, October 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 5, 1938, in Pawtucket, R.I., he was the son of the late Henry and Irene (Bernier) Aubin. Don dedicated his life to his profession as a lifelong meat cutter and enjoyed a remarkable 60 year tenure as a bartender at the Lefoyer Club. He loved getting up to go to work and continued to work until he was 84 years old.

Many mornings, Don would rise early to head to the diner before work. He was trusted by all, even given a key to open the diner at 5am and start brewing the coffee. The fondness he shared for both his employers and customers was palpable, he was loved by everyone he met. He was always eager to lend a hand, whether shoveling snow for a neighbor or bringing in their barrels. His great sense of humor and knack for pulling jokes brought many laughs to those around him.

Don was an avid golfer and bowler, he also cherished moments spent playing cards and creating memories with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. His son's Paul and Darin brought him great joy. He was extremely proud of them both and never missed an opportunity to talk about their many accomplishments and beautiful families. Don's warm spirit and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by Marge (Swartz) Aubin, his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, who was there for his every need. In addition to his wife he is also survived by his children: Paul Aubin and his wife Elise, Darin Aubin and his wife Margaret, stepdaughter Kathy Jacques and her husband Robert, and stepson Tom Laidlaw, siblings: Robert Aubin, Rachelle Lataille and Norman Aubin and his wife Betty, grandchildren: Hayle, Chase, Molly, Noah, Lucas, Ian, Jake and great granddaughter Ophelia. He was also the stepfather to the late Kellie Laidlaw, brother of the late Maurice Aubin and brother-in-law of the late Sheila Aubin, and Gail Aubin.

Rest in peace, Don. Your legacy of love, laughter and generosity will forever remain in our hearts.
