ACUSHNET-Donna Ferreira (Spoor), 73, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on Friday, August 28, 2026, with her loving husband by her side, after a brief illness.

Born in New Bedford to the late Frances (Sherman) and Alphonse Spoor. She was the beloved wife of Daniel Ferreira to whom she shared 51 beautiful years of marriage. They had many ventures together, including camping with the kids, a cross-country trip, and countless cruises. Donna was an educator for 32 years with the New Bedford Public Schools, before retiring in 2014 to enjoy adventuring with Daniel, as well as time spent with her family and friends. Donna was an avid reader, crafter, knitter, crocheter, and baker; but her favorite pastime was making memories with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel, son Daniel Ferreira, Jr and his wife, Joyce; daughter, Jennifer Thomas (Ferreira) and her husband, Kevin; two granddaughters: Alexis Ferreira and her fiancé, Cayden and Elizabeth Ferreira. She is also survived by two sisters: Robin Chmielewski and Tami Kabala, and one brother: David Spoor; along with brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no wake or funeral services, but a celebration of life is to be scheduled later. If you feel so inclined, the family encourages you to donate to a charity that supports the education and betterment of children in Donna’s name.
