NEW BEDFORD - Edward Simmons, age 72,  passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long and courageous battle with COPD on the morning of Saturday January 13, 2024. He was the son of the late Everett and Ruth(Sampson) Simmons and beloved husband of Robin (Frezza) Simmons.

Ed was a hard working man and worked many years at Borg-Warner as well as Delta Electric and McDonald's. He was a softball coach to many, and loved by all. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Brandi Souza and her husband Ryan Souza of New Bedford, Allison Dallaire and her husband Jared Dallaire of New Bedford, Jeffrey Simmons of New Bedford, Adam Simmons of Acushnet, Nicholas Simmons of New Bedford,
siblings: Russel Simmons and his wife Terry of Huntersville, NC, 10 grandchildren: Kobe Souza, Zachary Souza, Abigail Simmons, Caitlin Souza, Jared Dallaire Jr, Adam Simmons Jr, Adrianna Simmons, Derek Dallaire, Andrew Souza and Izaya Simmons and several nieces and nephews. Ed was also the brother the late Dale Simmons and Robert Simmons.

Calling hours for Ed will take place on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 4-7 PM at the Donaghy New Day Funeral Home 465 County St., New Bedford.
