Eleanor J. (Oliver) Martin, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 19, 2023. Born in Manhattan, NY she was the daughter of the late Ludvig "Louie" and Dorothy (Archer) Honies and loving companion of Ruth Barksdale of 47 years. Eleanor was a life long resident of Acushnet, and was a hairdresser, and a business owner in vacuum and jewelry sales. She enjoyed camping and trips to the ocean with Ruth and the Barksdale family, playing card games, crocheting, gardening, watching Disney movies, being a DJ and hosting her annual Christmas Eve gatherings. Above all else her passion was her family, she was a loving mother and the best grandmother and great grandmother anyone could ask for and her grandkids were her life.

She is survived by her daughter: Danielle Barksdale (husband Donald), grandchildren: Nicole Hardin-Francis (husband Andrew), Lori-Ane Lavoie, Melissa "Missy" Westgate (husband Gary) and Talon "TJ"Lavoie, grandchildren by heart: Jessie and Crystal, great grandchildren" James, Kiah, Carter, Zoey and Dakarya, best friend: Joseph Souza, and her beloved dog Benny. She was also the mother of the late Theresa Hardin.

A memorial service for Eleanor will take place on Thursday, March 30th at 3 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene 764 Hathaway Rd. New Bedford. Her arrangements are under the care of Donaghy New Day Funeral Home 465 County St. New Bedford.
