OCALA, FL-Ernest W. Trahan, 94, formerly of Seekonk, MA for 50 years, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026 in Ocala, FL where he moved in 2021. He was the loving and devoted husband of 70 years to Irene (Degrenia) Trahan.
Born and raised in Central Falls, RI, son of the late Wilfrid and Rose (Rocheleau) Trahan, he was known as "Buster" growing up and later "Uncle Buster" to his nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He attended Sacred Heart Academy and then served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. He later worked at Burroughs (now Unisys) for 30 years until his retirement as plant manager.
Ernie enjoyed traveling with his wife on many cruises and he was an avid golfer and bowler and played in a league at Stony Lea CC in Attleboro and bowled in East Providence. He was a member of the Notre Dame Athletic Club. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs for many years and became a Eucharistic Minister and member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. He ran the food pantry in the church for many years and was a recipient of the Top Hat award, taught CCD and worked at most of the church fairs. In his spare time Ernie enjoyed planting a garden and having the best lawn on Greenfield Street.
He is survived by his loving wife Irene; three children, Matthew Trahan, Kathleen Bouchard and her husband John and Leslie Dovale; four granddaughters, Kayla Chartier, Caitlin Benway and her husband James, Emily Bouchard and Mallory Dovale; also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Maurice, Gerard, Lucien, Normand, Roland and Richard and sisters, Irene Paulus, Helen (Farley) Whitely, Theresa Raimbeault and Rita Trahan.
Visitation will be Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4-8PM in the Foley-Cook New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 126 South Main St., Attleboro. His funeral will be Saturday, April 11, at 8:30AM from the funeral home followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Seekonk.
