Obituary

Eugene M. Pina Jr

September 13, 1960 – April 21, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene M. Pina Jr, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Eugene left this world peacefully at home in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on April 21, 2026, at the age of 65, after a courageous battle, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 13, 1960, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Eugene was the beloved son of the late Eugene and Clara Pina. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Glenn and Edward, and his sister Linda, who now join him in eternal rest.

Eugene is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Terry Pina, whose steadfast love and companionship were the cornerstones of his life. Together, they built a beautiful family that was Eugene's greatest pride and joy. He leaves behind his son, Eugene M. Pina III, and his wife Kamila of Elizabeth, New Jersey; daughter Shauna Ferrara and her husband Kenneth of Providence, Rhode Island; daughters Shanel and Shanae Pina of New Bedford, Massachusetts; son Shain Pina of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; and son Shawn Pina and his wife Rhianna of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Eugene’s legacy extends to his 15 grandchildren—Rasheem, Rah'Naisha, Eugene, E'unique, Zariah, Kenslee, Ayana, Ji'Zayah, Ky'Rell, Giovanni, Amya, Kayden, Raelynn, Josiah, and Aaliyah—and 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and laughter to his life. He is also survived by his siblings Nancy Pina of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Lisa Pina of Providence, Rhode Island, Keith Pina of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Michael Pina of Boston, Massachusetts. Eugene was also loved by his two cats, Fluffy and Little One, who brought him comfort and companionship in his later years.

For 21 years, Eugene was a dedicated employee of Coastline Elderly, where he delivered Meals on Wheels with a smile and a kind heart. His commitment to his clients extended beyond work hours, as he often spent his free time offering help and companionship to those who needed it. Eugene's generosity and willingness to lend a hand defined his character, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Eugene found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished every moment spent with his family, delighting in the presence of his children and grandchildren. Often, he could be found on Bay Street, meticulously washing his car while listening to his favorite tunes, or visiting his parents’ gravesite, where he found peace and connection. He also enjoyed playing the lottery and shopping, always with his signature style—sharp attire, matching Air Forces, sunglasses, Bluetooth earpiece and his unforgettable cologne.

Eugene will be remembered for his warmth and the love he showered on everyone he encountered. His sweet kisses, caring nature, and the way he made people feel truly special will be deeply missed by all.

A celebration of Eugene’s life will be held on May 1, 2026, at 4:00 – 8:00PM at Donaghy New Day Cremation & Funeral Care, located at 465 County St., New Bedford, MA 02740. The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who visited, donated, called, sent messages, and stood by them during this incredibly challenging time. Your love, support, and kindness have meant more than words can express.

In honoring Eugene’s memory, let us remember his generosity, his love for life’s simple pleasures, and his unwavering dedication to family and friends. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. Thank you for being part of Eugene’s life journey and for helping his family find solace in their cherished memories of him.
