NEW BEDFORD-Florence (Flora) Maciel, 89 years old, passed away peacefully Monday, February 19, 2024. Born in Falmouth, MA, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Eva (Machado) Flora, the loving mother of her only daughter Brenda and son in law Richard J Kendall of Raynham; grandmother to Jesse and Vaun Kendall and sister of the late Jessie Borden.

She lived most of her life in Dartmouth and was a communicant of St. George Catholic Church in Westport.

In 1962 Florence was crowned Queen of Hearts of the Aerocap Club and worked at Aerovox Corporation in New Bedford for 40 years until her retirement.

Florence was a strong, independent woman, a selfless single mother and a wonderful grandmother.

She enjoyed tending her flowers, playing in the yard with and "baking" with her grandsons.

Her visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2024 at 9:30AM-10:30AM at the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County St., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. George Church, Westport.  Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford.
