NEW BEDFORD-Gala Rivera Delgado, 89, passed away on August 21, 2026. Gala was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Angelina Delgado and Jaime Rivera.

Gala was employed for many years as a cafeteria worker in the public school system. She loved to go dancing, and was a devoted and hard working mother who always did her best to help her children succeed. She cherished the time spent with those she loved, especially her grandchildren.

Gala is survived by her children, Flora Delaney, Mario Hernandez and Roberto Delaney; and her sister’s Rafa- Valentina Rivera Padella and Isabel Rivera Fragoso; eleven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Juanita Rivera Delgado, Luis Rivera Delgado.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 5-7pm in the Donaghy New-Day Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford.
