Obituary

NEW BEDFORD-Georgette A. (Torres) Theodore, 89, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the Oaks in New Bedford. She was the loving wife of 42 years to the late Joseph Theodore, Jr. who passed away in 1996.

Born and raised in New Bedford, daughter of the late Francis and Anita (Viens) Torres, she settled in Acushnet prior to entering the Oaks three years ago. Georgette was a communicant of St. Lawrence Martyr Church in New Bedford.

Georgette loved to dance and was a student for many years the the Yvonne Green Dance Studio and also taught there until her marriage. Her mother made all of her costumes. She was also a member of the Rythymettes dance group. She enjoyed attending the Acushnet Council on Aging.

She is survived by her sons, Dana Theodore and his wife Donna of Acushnet and Joseph Theodore, III and the late Jeff Theodore; four grandchildren, Terra Theodore, Alyssa Martinez, Alexa Theodore and Katrena Theodore; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Georgette was the youngest and last of eight children.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 9:30-11am in the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County Street, New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am at St. Lawrence Martyr Church, County Street, New Bedford.
