Gerald 'Jerry" Mendes, 75, of Rochester, Massachusetts,  passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2025, with his devoted wife by his side.

Jerry was born and raised in Rochester, where he attended Rochester Regioal High School. During those years he discovered a lifelong passion for music and played guitar in local bands with his close friend Zack Rezendes.  His love of music and friendship shaped much of his early life and continued to bring him joy throughout his years.

After high school, Jerry attended Miami Dade Junior College and spent time in Florida raising a family and operating a business.  Though he enjoyed his years there, he eventually returned home to Rochester, drawn back by the peace and simplicity of country life he had always treasured.

Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who found his greatest happiness in his family.  He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his son Gary Mendes and daughter Jacqueline Schweitzer from a former marriage; his stepsons Scott and Christopher,  and his beloved grandchildren Maggie Gauthier, and Orion Schweitzer.  He is also survived by his mother, Aldora Duval; his sister's, Linda Williams and Roxanne Tuskey and several nieces and nephews.

A lifelong New England Patriots fan, he rarely missed a game and took pride in cheering on his team. Jerry will be remembered for his warmth, creative abilities and love of music --- qualities that touched everyone that knew him.

Jerry will be cremated, and a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
