Howard C.
Davis, III
May 31, 2026
Howard Carter Davis, 75
Howard Carter Davis III, known to most as Cartie or HCD3, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026 at the age of 75.
Cartie loved golf but was also a sailor, hang glider, fisherman, actor, bell ringer, and wordsmith . He would frequently neologize words, creating something new, unique and almost always hilarious.
He squeezed everything he could out of life , in his younger years, auditioning for the Broadway play Hair, attending Woodstock, and participating in hijinks, adventures and misdeeds that would make your toes curl.
He was born in Manhattan but spent most of his life in Marion Massachusetts before moving to Wareham.
Cartie attended Kent School in Connecticut, where he made lifelong friends, and then Boston University, (those years also could be considered epic). He had a knack for sales. His special brand of schmoozing made him a very successful high-end home theater representative at Pro Audio. His love of tech never faded, and he remained a first-adopter of new gadgets into his 70s.
He is survived by his wife Robin Ragle-Davis, sister Nancy Johnson (Greg), his daughters Tory Somers (Paul), Courtney Landers, stepdaughter Emily Cohen (Phil) and stepson Benjamin Silverstein (Manasi) and grandchildren Nolan Somers, Pearl Landers, and Charlotte Cohen. They are still trying to figure out how to operate his customized, cutting-edge entertainment system, which only he had the tech-savvy to operate.
Wherever he is, he certainly has a golf club in his hand, a glint in his eye, and is looking forward to the 19th hole at his beloved Kittansett.
Donations in his memory can be made to PanCan (Pancreatic Cancer Network) or the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund.
