Irving C.
Salley
March 26, 2026
Sabatino's Trattoria
Starts at 1:00 pm
Irving C. Salley, beloved father, died peacefully at home in Norton on March 26, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in Attleboro, he was the cherished son of Irving R. and Dorothy E. (Claflin) Salley. He was the dedicated husband of the late Claire A. (McKay) Salley.
He lived a full life of hard work, service to his community, devotion to family, and quiet joy in life's simple pleasures. After high school, he pursued an engineering education at Wentworth Institute, where he honed skills and determination that would shape his life. Not long thereafter, he founded New England Plastic Coated Products, building his business from the ground up with dedication, ingenuity and perseverance. His work ethic and commitment to quality earned him the respect of colleagues and employees alike.
Throughout his entire life, he was committed to supporting and serving his community. He was a member of the Norton Lions Club, and the Bourne Shore and Harbor Committee. He was a Life Member of the Boy Scouts of America, having earned a Silver Beaver Award which particularly reflected his strong belief in the value of leadership and character.
In retirement, he settled in Pocasset where he found great happiness near the water, especially while fishing – his favorite pastime. Irv also enjoyed playing cribbage, working outdoors, and gardening. He particularly enjoyed working with his hands. Whether building birdhouses, constructing osprey nests or tinkering on projects, he found satisfaction in creating and fixing things, always curious and applying "Yankee Ingenuity" to all he touched.
Irving is survived by his sister Beverly (Salley) Martin and her husband Terry, his daughter Leann Salley and her fiancé Glenn Hanson, his daughter Lorine Salley Boucher and her husband Dean Boucher, and his cherished granddaughter Annabel, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Irving will be remembered for his steady presence, his craftsmanship, the love he shared with family and friends, and most importantly for his willingness to always help others in any way he could. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
His famous parting "Be Happy" will never be forgotten…
A celebration of Irv's life shall take place at Sabatino's Trattoria, 111 W Main St., Norton on May 3 at 1 p.m., to which friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irv's memory to the Cupboard of Kindness Food Pantry, PO Box 874, 120 Mansfield Ave, Norton, MA 02766.
