November 20, 2023
NEW BEDFORD-James Francis Medeiros, age 61 passed away on Monday, November 20th at Saint Lukes Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born June 7, 1962, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was the son of Claire Medeiros (St. Onge) and the late Jarvis Francis Medeiros. He attended Fairhaven Public Schools, Class of 1980 and went on to graduate from Boston University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
He spent many years living and working in Boston before returning to Fairhaven. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and could answer almost any trivia question about the team. He also followed the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.
Jimmy loved 80s music, spending time with family and his many friends and relaxing on West Island beach in the summertime. He had an affinity for Siamese cats and owned three, Sybil, Phoebe, and Sammy during his lifetime. He was highly creative in the kitchen, due to his passion for cooking. He enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad and despite his condition, he recently visited Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Always the life of the party, he had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh!
James is survived by his mother Claire, his three sisters, Lorraine (Gino) Jackson, Luanne (Randy) Brillon, Nancy (Matthew) Kirichok, and three nephews, Thomas Brillon, Matthew Brillon, and Jason Kirichok.
A Catholic Mass and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10 am St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.
