NEW BEDFORD-Janice M.Gomes, 84, of New Bedford passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Born in Acushnet, daughter of the late Marie (Fermino) Johnson and the late Alfred Gomes and his wife Mildred, who raised Janice, she lived most of her life in New Bedford.

Janice worked as a health aide at various facilities and homes. She enjoyed BINGO, trips to Foxwoods, crocheting and she was an avid Red Sox fan.

She is survived by her six children, Tammie Gomes Patterson and her husband Anthony of Winter Park, FL, Peter Soares, Robin Soares Couto and Keith Soares all of New Bedford, Allen Soares and his late wife Karen of Green Bay, WI and Alex Soares of New Bedford; 10 grandchildren;  five great grandchildren; her siblings, William Watkins and his wife Mariam, Nancy Costa and her husband Butch, Geraldine Livramento and her husband Ronald, Alfred "Rocky" Gomes and his companion Linda Silva, Wayne Gomes all of New Bedford and Virginia Marcelino of NC; She is also survived by several half siblings and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ms. Gomes was the sister of the late Bradley Gomes, Stuart Gomes, Kathleen Gomes Tench and Karlene Johnson.
