Jeffrey E.
Todman
December 12, 2025
NEW BEDFORD — Jeffrey E. Todman, 69, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, December 12, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Edward and Gwendolyn May (Gumbs) Todman.
Born in New Bedford, Jeffrey was a lifelong resident of the city he proudly called home. Jeffrey proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. A true jack of all trades, he was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever needed to be done. He worked for the City of New Bedford for a time as a sanitation worker and later continued to put his skills to use throughout the community.
Jeffrey spent much of his life quietly doing good deeds for others — landscaping yards, painting houses, and helping neighbors whenever he could. Well known throughout the city, he was appreciated not only for his generosity, but also for his infectious sense of humor and easygoing nature. He had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is survived by his daughter, Nichole Almeida and her mother, Paula Ray; his siblings, John Todman and his wife, Annie, Joel Todman and his wife, Donna, and Edward Todman, Jr., all of New Bedford, Gretchen Todman of New Bedford, Suzanne Robinson and her husband, Mark of New Bedford, Lori Rogers and her husband, John, and Cleo Waters of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Nashon, Nhyri and Nichay; other children he raised, Loren, Jaime and Jay Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews; his close friend, Zilma, who did so much for him and his neighbor, Evelyn who always provided him with a hot meal. Also his close friend Robert who he spent a lot of time conversing with.
Jeffrey was predeceased by his siblings, Gregory Todman, Gail Todman, Reneé Todman, Celeste Todman, Maxine Todman and Shelley Todman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeffrey's memory to the Salvation Army or Sister Rose House.
Jeffrey's kindness, humility, and willingness to help others will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout New Bedford.
