Joao P. "John" Couto, 52, passed away on October 20, 2023.

John was born in São Miguel, Azores and was the son of Odete (DeSousa) Couto and the late Daniel D. Couto.

John was employed in construction for many years and was widely known by those who knew him best as a man who could build and fix just about anything he touched. John was a hard worker and devoted to providing the best he could for his family. You could always count on John to be there if you needed help with anything. He will be remembered as an outgoing and friendly man who enjoyed listening to music and always had a project to keep him busy.

John is survived by his children, Shay Couto of New Bedford and Collin Couto of Quincy; siblings, David Couto and his wife Jessica of New Bedford, Patricia Metil and her husband Nelson of Freetown and Ricardo Couto of Holland; many nieces and nephews and countless lifelong friends.

He was the brother of the late Susana Medeiros and Magda Couto.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4-7pm in the Donaghy-New Day Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford.

Prayers will be held at 6:30pm in the funeral home.
