NEW BEDFORD-Joe Carreiro, 61, of New Bedford passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, July 23, 2024.  he was the loving husband of Mary J. (Sylvia) Carreiro.

Born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Vergino and Maria (Conceicao) Carreiro. Joe was a mechanic at Aerovox for 30 years until his illness.  He loved working on and riding his Harley's most recently "Irene".

He is survived by his loving wife Mary; his daughter, Kimberly Carreiro and her partner Shawn Gomes of Berkley; a step son, Jarryd Pike and his partner Brooke Tavares of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Shyla Rae Gomes; two step grandchildren, Makenna A.and Madddox A. Pike; his siblings, Carlos Carreiro and his wife Eddie of Canada, Anna Aguiar and her husband Manuel of Brockton, Ilda Carreiro of Burlington, Betty Rice and her husband Ken of MD and John Carreiro and his partner Ann Ferris of NH; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated, memorial calling hours are Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 4-7pm in the Donaghy New day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County St., New Bedford.
