John
Kampersal
d. Jun 27, 2026
It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce that John Kampersal's journey among us has ended. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lise (Cormier) Kampersal, their 3 children and 2 grandsons.
Born in Beverly Massachusetts on May 11, 1948 to Lucille (Choate) and Edgar Kampersal, he graduated from Beverly High School, Boston State College, and Boston College, where he earned his Masters Degree in Social Work.
John's career was devoted to caring and counseling those whose lives were impacted by substance abuse and addiction. He was an advocate for additional local resources for persons struggling with mental health issues.
John was an athlete, a veteran of many marathons, a biking enthusiast and one of the area's best pool players. Those in his circle of pool players referred to him as "Doc".
In addition to his wife Lise, he is survived by his children, Zachary of Providence, RI, Hannah Stewart (Tim) of Checotah, OK, Samuel of Dartmouth, MA, and grandchildren Graham and Kade Stewart, his brother Peter and sister Janet Kendricks, and their families as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers David and Robert of Beverly, MA.
His life was defined by kindness, compassion and dedication to his family and all those he encountered. His life was a blessing to those who loved him and his memory a valued treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure, especially by his son Sam who was his greatest companion.
