Obituary

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we

announce that John Kampersal's journey among us has

ended. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lise

(Cormier) Kampersal, their 3 children and 2 grandsons

Born in Beverly Massachusetts on May 11, 1948 to Lucille

(Choate) and Edgar Kampersal, he graduated from

Beverly High School, Boston State College, and Boston

College, where he earned his Masters Degree in Social Work.

John's career was devoted to caring and counseling those

whose lives were impacted by substance abuse and

addiction. He was an advocate for additional local

resources for persons struggling with mental health issues.

John was an athlete, a veteran of many marathons, a

biking enthusiast and one of the area's best pool

players.Those in his circle of pool players referred to him as "Doc".

In addition to his wife Lise, he is survived by his children,

Zachary of Providence, RI, Hannah Stewart (Tim) of

Checotah, OK, Samuel of Dartmouth, MA, and

grandchildren Graham and Kade Stewart, his brother

Peter and sister Janet Kendricks, and their families as well

as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers David and Robert of

Beverly, MA

His life was defined by kindness, compassion and

dedication to his family and all those he encountered. His

life was a blessing to those who loved him and his

memory a valued treasure. He was loved beyond words

and will be missed beyond measure, especially by his son

Sam who was his greatest companion.

His Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July

11, 2026 at the Country Club of New Bedford, 585 Slocum

Rd, Dartmouth, MA between the hours of 11 AM and 2PM
