Obituary

John D. Medeiros, Jr., (Jack) died peacefully on May 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family to whom he meant the world. Jack, age 82, was born in Providence, RI.  He was the son of John D. Medeiros and Elizabeth (Roza) Medeiros.

Jack grew up on Cape Cod; he was a graduate of Barnstable High School in the Class of 1961 and a member of the first graduating class of Cape Cod Community College in 1963.  Jack and Sandy were high school sweethearts and married shortly after Sandy's graduation.  They moved their family to Georgia and then to South Attleboro, where they have resided for over fifty years.

A sports enthusiast, Jack was an avid Pawtucket Red Sox and Boston Red Sox fan.  He proudly played on the Cotuit Kettleers 1961 and 1962 League Champion teams in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

After a long career with John Hancock Life Insurance, Jack joined the family-owned Ro-Jack's Food Stores, which allowed him the flexibility to start his mobile disc jockey service, Down Memory Lane.  He was an active member of the South Attleboro Lions Club for many years.

Most important to Jack was spending time with his family; he could often be found in his chair just far enough away from the crowd so that he could watch everything going on at once.  He shared his love of Christmas, Cape Cod, baseball, and music with all of us.

Jack is survived by his dancing partner and wife of 60 years, Sandra Logan Medeiros, and their four children: Joanie Medeiros; Susan White and her husband, David; Dana Medeiros and his wife, Colleen; and Dustin Medeiros and his wife, Caitie.  Jack treasured his nine grandchildren: Eric, Melanie, Shannon, and James Ryder; Logan and Blake Medeiros; Addyson White; and Elena and Eden Medeiros.  He is also survived by several cousins, especially his "little brother" Kenneth Perreira; sisters-in-law Susan Meador and her husband, Steve; Deb Logan and husband, Ron; and Jane Logan.  He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, James Logan.
