John Luis Melo also known as "Tatank" Joaozinho" and "Uncle John" 49 years old, passed away on August 29,2025. He was born in Salga, Sao Miguel Azores and was a long-time resident of New Bedford Ma. with his wife Lisa Melo. They were together 26 beautiful years, married for 10 of them.

John was predeceased by his late mother Berta Costa Melo also of Salga, Sao Miguel, Azores.

He was survived by his wife Lisa Melo, His father Joao G Melo,also of Salga Sao Miguel Azores and his partner Elizabeth Amaral, currently residing in New Bedford Ma. His Brother Alvaro Melo of New Bedford as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John spent over a decade working for Swan Printing and Dyeing in Fall River, Ma. When he wasn't at work he spent his free time with his wife. John also loved drinking coffee with friends and family, he loved Portuguese food, but his favorite food was pizza. He enjoyed going for scenic rides on his Harley Davidson, watching comedies and sports, he was a huge fan of the New England Patriots. John loved his dogs and loved making people laugh. He was known for his laugh and was everyone's favorite cousin.

Services will be held at Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County St, New Bedford Ma 02740, on Saturday September 6, 2025 from 1-4pm. The remaining services will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to help cover his unexpected funeral expenses.
