John M. Silva, 67, of New Bedford passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.  Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Theophilo and Olivia (Delgado) Silva.

John grew up in New Bedford and was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Vocational High School.  He lived in Taunton for a time before returning to the city.  He was an auto mechanic at various area repair shops. He enjoyed working in pit crews and racing cars.

He is survived by two sisters, Thea Correia and her husband Joseph of New Bedford and Marguerite Silva-Pinto and her husband Michael Pinto of East Freetown;  two nephews, Brennan Correia and his wife Stephanie and their children, Ayden and Athena, and Derek Correia;  a niece, Felicia Pinto;  and many cousins.

John will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at St. John Cemetery in New Bedford Friday, January 12, 2024 at 9am in the Chapel.  Arrangements are by the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
