John E
Vittori
August 13, 2023
NEW BEDFORD-John E. Vittori, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 13, 2023 at his New Bedford home. He had recently celebrated his 67th birthday. John is survived by his loving wife, Julie, his children Lindsay, Braxton and Victoria, grandchildren Liam and Amelia's, mother Doreen, and sisters Gail, Wendy and Elizabeth. John was born to Doreen and Francis Vittori on August 7th, 1956, in Washington D.C. He spent the majority of his childhood growing up in Brookline, MA. John was a talented athlete who loved tennis and sailing. Aside from his love of tennis and sailing, John was a passionate and hardworking local business founder and entrepreneur. He worked with his sister, Wendy Vittori, beginning in 1987 to establish and grow Hilltop Orchards and Furnace Brook Winery in Richmond, MA, the first farm winery in the Berkshires. In 2006 they acquired the Garden Gables Inn in Lenox.& John devoted many hours engaging with and supporting his Berkshire community and stopped at nothing to lend a helping hand to those in need. While John left us far too soon, he had battled illness since childhood. Despite spending much time in and out of the hospital, John never lost his sense of resilience and selflessness. John was always ready to head out for a sail on his beloved boat, "Lady V", affectionately named after the women in his life that he held so dear. John never missed an opportunity to support his children in achieving their goals. He faithfully attended every sporting event for his daughter, Victoria, every performance for his son, Braxton, and would drop anything to visit his grandchildren and daughter, Lindsay. In accordance with his wishes he was cremated and memorial visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 12-2pm in the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral care, 465 County Street, New Bedford with a service of remembrance at 2pm.
