Obituary

FAIRHAVEN-June Anne Botelho, 70, of Fairhaven passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Edmund and Hilda (Costa) Botelho, she was a 1972 graduate of New Bedford High School.  June had been a Health Unit Coordinator at St. Luke's Hospital for 32 years until her retirement in 2006.

June loved to travel and went on many cruises, mostly to the Caribbean Islands. She was a crafter, always building, sewing, and creating, whether wooden artwork or sweatshirt designs. She was passionate about animals and cared for many cats, dogs, hamsters, and birds throughout her life.

June was an incredibly caring, kind human and loved her nieces and nephews beyond measure. When she would say "I love you" it bubbled up through her until it erupted with a laugh and a smile that would warm your soul every time, no matter if she was saying it face-to-face or over the phone. While she never had any children of her own, June sponsored a young child in Indonesia, helping to supply resources to help with everyday life, and flew to visit him in the 1990s.

She is survived by her siblings, Jean Seed of Fairhaven, Timothy Botelho and his wife Dee of Dartmouth, Thomas Botelho of New Bedford, and Melinda Botelho and her husband Joseph of Dartmouth, and many nieces and nephews.  June was the sister of the late Roger, Edmund, Kenneth and Steven Botelho.

In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated.  Arrangements are by the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County Street, New Bedford.  For memorial register please visit, www.newdayfunerals.com.
