NEW BEDFORD-Lynn A. (Sherman) Izyk, 73, of New Bedford passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 at home, after a long illness, with her husband and her beloved dog Jasmine by her side. She was the loving wife of 53 years to Robert "Bob" Izyk.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Muriel (Beals) Sherman.  Lynn was a 1969 graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, majoring in Home Economics and then attended the LaBaron School for Hairdressing.  After briefly working as a hairdresser, she went on to own and operate a small card and gift shop with her husband.  Lynn also worked at Piece Goods until their closing. She loved arts and crafts and sewing. She went on to work for the New Bedford School System in the Food Service Department until her retirement in 2012.  Always wanting to be creative, she enjoyed decorating, doing arts and craft projects with her friends, family and coworkers. She also took painting classes, spent time gardening, and played Scrabble and various card games before her decline in health.

She is survived by her husband Bob;  her children, Amy Germain of Riverside, RI and Joseph Izyk of East Taunton;  her sister, Debra (Sherman) Souza and her husband Joseph of Swansea and a niece, Megan Bonilla and her husband Johnny of Swansea.
