NEW BEDFORD  - Manuel Jose Matos, 61, of New Bedford passed away after a brief illness on March 11, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.

Manuel was born in Ponta Delgada,Portugal, the son of the late Antonio and Maria da Gloria (Reis Garcia) Matos. He attended New Bedford Vocational High School.

He loved spending time outside. Manuel enjoyed riding his scooter. He also enjoyed going to water parks, playing mini golf, and camping.

Manuel is survived by his beloved sister, Edie Matos of New Bedford and his brother, Eddie Matos of Florida. He is also survived by his nephews Antone Salgado, Jr., Daniel Matos, Justin Matos, Shawn Nichols, and Dylan Pollitt; his nieces Marlene Matos and Chealsy Nichols; and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his beloved brother Mario J. Matos.
