Obituary

ATTLEBORO-Maria Stella Cavaliere, 88, passed away on August 25, 2025. She was the wife of the late Joseph N. Cavaliere.

Maria was born in Castrovalva, Abruzzo, Italy and was the daughter of the late Domenico and Nancy (DiBenedetto) Dintino.

Maria left poverty in Italy with her Family and headed for America by way of a ship voyage to Ellis Island, NY at the young age of 17 and settled in Massachusetts. In 1984, she began her last and longtime employment at the VH Blackinton Co, retiring just a few months short of 38 years, just before reaching her 86th birthday. She enjoyed the artistic nature of her work with jewelry and exceled at it. Maria was a faithful Roman Catholic, with a deep reverence for God, and was very active in the church her entire life. Her natural motherly instincts shone among her children and grandchildren. She cared deeply for her Family and always kept the needs of others in mind. Maria loved to stay active by doing yardwork and social by walking around the neighborhood and chatting with neighbors. She absolutely loved her home. Cooking and caring for her Family were always foremost in her life. Her Italian biscotti and homemade Italian sauce and meatballs were Family favorites. Most of all, although she led a long and successful life, Maria never forgot her humble upbringing and had a special place in her heart for the less fortunate.

She is survived by her children, Diana M. Cavaliere-McCarthy and her husband, Gary, of Attleboro and her daughter, Debra N. Lanci, and her husband, David, of Foxboro; siblings, Filomena DiMatteo and her husband, Rudy, of Framingham and Michael Dintino of Attleboro; her adoring grandchildren, Stefano and Marcello, and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Clara Luongo and the late Aldo Dintino.
