It is with great sadness that we announce the transition of Maria DaRosa on May 24, 2026, at the age of 67.
Maria spent her final weeks of life residing with her mother, sister and brother in-law in her childhood home with her family lovingly by her side.
Born January 5, 1959, in New Bedford, MA to Joel and Justina Teixeira, Maria graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1977. Years later, she returned to school for nursing. She had a long and fulfilling career as a registered nurse, dedicating much of her professional life to caring for others through her work at Personal Touch Home Care.
New Bedford is where she raised her family and currently resided. She lived a life filled with passion and service towards others.
She is survived by her mother, Justina Teixeira of Dartmouth, her children, Justina Perry and her husband James of New Bedford and Danielle Perry and her husband Quinn of Lakeville. She is Mamai to her four honey bunnies Khadijah, Nola, Lenae and Naima Perry. She will be forever remembered by her siblings Brian Teixeira of New Bedford, Joan Gomes (Allen) of Dartmouth, Virginia Hill (Steve) of New Bedford, David Teixeira (Kimberly) of Saugus, Rodney Teixeira (Chuntenia) of Woodbridge, VA. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is now reunited with her father Joel R. Teixeira and brother Joel R. Teixeira Jr.
Maria was predeceased by her former spouse and the father of her children, John Steven DaRosa, and will be fondly remembered by her dear in-laws who remained family to her.
Visiting hours are Friday, June 5, 2026 from 9-11am with a celebration of her life at 11am in the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
