Marta Montijo touched the lives of countless individuals, and has been called Home to rest her endlessly selfless heart, having departed from this world on May 23rd, 2026. Born on January 30th, 1963, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to her parents Ramon and Providencia Montijo. Marta lived as a light to all throughout her entire life. It was easy to see her truly earnest generosity and care for humanity.
In her early life, Marta could always be found with her siblings, trailing just behind, playing outdoors, and going on adventures. The appreciation she had for the little things in life never left her. Throughout her life, she found the deepest love in her family and children, as well as with her husband and his music, with whom she enjoyed a beautiful autumn wedding on October 30th, 1997. She was brilliant and used her intelligence in her work in the prime of her life. She was proud of her work in the Public Administration and Insurance industries and remained dedicated even during times of pain, knowing she could provide compassion and kindness to those navigating difficult circumstances. She brought comfort and solace with prayer over people who needed her and could always recognize and seek out the stranger in the crowd who was carrying a hidden burden. To the people who knew her best, she will be lovingly remembered for her humor that diffused any tough situation, her amazing cooking, and her willingness to go above and beyond for anyone.
Marta is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Luis Lopez, her children; Alexander Lopez and Jacob Montijo, her siblings; Al Montijo, Fath Eufemia Belford, Jorge Montijo, Jason Montijo, Mirna Torres, Providencia DeJesus, Ramon Montijo, and her honorary children, Adeyah Pagnozzi and Tabitha Frady. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Providencia Montijo and her brother Edwin Montijo.
