Obituary

Mary A. Endler passed away peacefully at age 102 on February 18, 2025, at Madonna Manor Nursing Center in North Attleboro, MA.

Mary was born Maria Antonia Ristaino on November 18, 1922, in Franklin, MA to Theodore and Letizia Ristaino. She was the youngest of nine siblings and part of an extended clan of proud Italian Immigrants. She often reminisced fondly about growing up on her family's homestead on Washington St. in Franklin surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins

After graduating from Franklin High School, Mary worked for the Electric Company before her marriage to Fred Endler in June of 1946. They moved to Attleboro where Fred ran his jewelry business; for years Mary was involved helping manage the accounts and doing secretarial work. However, her primary occupation was as a homemaker and mother to their four children and later she became the doting grandmother whose goal was to spoil their ten grandchildren. Mary and Fred were married for 49 years until his death in 1995.  Later, in 2008, she moved to Hope Garden where she spent a number of happy years and made many friends. Finally, Mary spent her final seven years at Madonna Manor. Her family is very appreciative of the care she received from the staff there.

In addition to her family, Mary focused much of her energy on her faith and her involvement at St. John the Evangelist Parish. She was very devout, and she happily spent countless hours donating her time and skills to her church community. She was honored to receive the Marion Medal in recognition of her gifts of service to her parish and the diocese.

Throughout her life, Mary was renowned among her family and friends for her culinary skills. It was a pleasure to enjoy one of her Italian feasts; however, her baked treats were legendary. She always had homemade goodies in her kitchen, and she spent weeks every November and December baking hundreds of cookies. Many, many people looked forward to her Christmas cookie gift boxes. Thankfully, she passed on her recipes to her children and grandchildren.

Family was of utmost importance to Mary. She is survived by her four children: Kathleen Fitzgerald and her husband Paul in Delaware, Fred Endler and his wife Theresa in New Hampshire, Marjorie Tousignant and her husband Roger in Florida, and John Endler and his wife Lisa Bordeleau in North Attleboro, MA.  She also leaves 10 grandchildren: Cara, Matthew, Mark, Anna, John, Brian, Bridget, Molly, Ian, and Meaghan; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.  Additionally, she will be missed by many Ristaino and Cataldo nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held later this spring at St. Mark's Parish in Attleboro Falls, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, District Council of Attleboro, 6 Tanya Dr., Mansfield, MA.
