Maureen R. (Butler) Tessier, age 75, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026. She was the beloved wife of David D. Tessier with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.
She was born in Providence; daughter of the late Anthony and Alice (Hughes) Butler.
Maureen dedicated her life to education and the well-being of children. Over the course of her remarkable 40-year career in education, she touched countless lives, always placing the needs of children at the forefront of her work. She retired ten years ago after serving as a compassionate and dedicated guidance counselor, leaving behind a legacy of care and support for students navigating their paths. For many years, Maureen volunteered as the summer camp director for children at the Cranston Center. For over a decade, Maureen found the time to be an active member of the Johnston/Smithfield Juvenile Hearing Board.
Maureen was a woman of many talents and passions. A true master of hobbies, she had an incredible ability to excel at anything she set her mind to. Whether painting, quilting, sewing, or training service dogs to assist those in need, Maureen approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and skill. Her kind heart and willingness to help others were constant throughout her life.
In addition to her husband, Maureen is survived by her son, Daniel Tessier; her beloved grandchildren, Emilia Tessier, and Lucas Tessier; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Maureen was proceeded in death by her parents and her six siblings.
Honoring her wishes, all services will be held privately.
