Obituary

Melanie Fryer, 47, of Dartmouth passed away unexpectedly at Saint Luke's hospital on September 13, 2022, in New Bedford. She was the wife of Robert Fryer and was born in New Bedford, MA to parents Carole (Bourgeois) MacArthur and the late Albert J. D'Arruda.

Melanie "Mel" grew up in Dartmouth, MA and moved briefly to Plainfield, IN graduating from high school in 1993. She studied at Endicott College and held several jobs throughout the service industry where she was known for her warm and friendly customer service often taking the time to get to know her guests.

Melanie was a devoted wife and mother. She was always there when you needed her and would drop everything to help someone in need. She was a good friend to many and was kind, funny and always the brightest light in the room. She easily found joy in the smallest things in life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also loved hockey, nature, her beloved pets and snuggling to watch her favorite re-runs. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband Robert Fryer; her mother Carole MacArthur and step-father Henry MacArthur of Dartmouth; her children Cameron Fryer, Livia Fryer and Lillian Fryer of Dartmouth; her brother Albert D'Arruda and his wife Suzie of Smyrna Mills, Maine; her sister Lynne Galipeau and her spouse Peter of Dartmouth; her step-brother Jason Cordeiro and spouse Cindy of Plainfield, IN; her step-sister Amy MacArthur in Edmonton, Alberta; her mother-in-law Linda Fryer of Fairhaven, father-in-law Kenneth Fryer of Plant City, FL; nieces and nephews Emma Fryer, Sarah Ze Galipeau, Nathan Galipeau, Steven D'Arruda and Kaden Cordeiro; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. She was pre-deceased by her father Albert J. D'Arruda.
