FALL RIVER-Michael F. McGowan, 81, of Country Gardens in Swansea passed away Friday, April 24, 2026 at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River after a long illness. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Harold and Anastasia (Tynan) McGowan.

Michael grew up in New Bedford and had been a resident of Country Gardens in Swansea since 2017, where he received wonderful care. He loved old movies, linguica pizza and having company. He was the longtime companion of his beloved Mary Jane, who had predeceased him.

Michael is survived by his brother, James of Wareham and sister, Eileen Price of Michigan; a niece, Valerie Foltz of Michigan; and a cousin Joann Vaillancourt of Reading; as well as many dear friends and caretakers at Country Gardens.

A prayer service at 12PM in the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County St., New Bedford will be followed by burial at Rural Cemetery on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. For facility directions or memorial register please visit, www.newdayfunerals.com
