Obituary

NEW BEDFORD- Michael H Turek, 49, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Henry and Joan (Bromley) Turek.

Reflecting on Mike's life, I'm struck by the vibrant tapestry of his passions. His love for music wasn't just a hobby; it was a driving force. The joy he experienced at concerts, particularly those shared with his Uncle Ricky, who always secured the best seats, speaks volumes about the importance of shared experiences and the enduring power of family bonds. This deep-seeded passion seamlessly transitioned into his successful career as a DJ, where his talent for keeping the party alive earned him a well deserved reputation.

Beyond the pulsating energy of the music scene, Mike found fulfillment in his role as an inventory specialist at RGIS. His dedication wasn't just about the job; he cultivated meaningful connections with his colleagues, forging lasting relationships that enriched his professional life and beyond. His dedication extended far beyond the work place. Bowling, a pastime he cherished since childhood, became a significant part of his social life, creating another network of friends and camaraderie within his bowling community.

And let's not forget his unwavering loyalty to the Red Sox and Patriots. Season after season, win or lose, he remained their steadfast supporter, his unwavering optimism a testament to his enduring spirit. Each year he held onto that hope- that *this* year would be the year of victory. He approached life with his infectious enthusiasm finding joy in the simple things and embracing the connections he made with others.

He is survived by a brother Brian Turek, by his cousin Deborah Bolton, who was more like a sister, and her husband Steven of New Bedford, as well as Renee Marujo of Tallahassee Florida, and Scott Talbot of New Bedford:  his Godmother, Sandra Talbot;  He also had two godchildren, Bobby Bolton and Nathaniel Turek, both of New Bedford.

In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated and memorial visitation will be held Friday June 20th 2025, 5-8 pm in the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County st New Bedford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM Saturday June 21, 2025 at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Mount Pleasant St. New Bedford.
