NEW BEDFORD-Mildred (Duarte) Fernandes, 91, of Melville Towers, passed away of natural causes at home, Friday, July 25, 2025.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Frank Duarte and Henrietta (Pina) Montrond. She was the sister of the late Cesar Duarte, PeeWee Duarte an Laura Michaels and cousin of the late Emily Gomes.

Millie (as she is affectionately known) retired from Kyler Seafood, in New Bedford. She was a phenomenal cook and baker.  She enjoyed sewing, crafting, walking and was avid reader. Millie especially enjoyed her four generations of children and her many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughter Sheila Andrade Mello and husband Christopher Mello  of Falmouth, Ma.  and daughter Sharon Duarte of Clermont, FL..

Funeral services were private with Millie's ashes spread over her most favorite walking park of Ft. Taber.
