Nancy
Pimental
February 1, 2026
Nancy A. Pimental, a longtime resident of Lincoln, MA, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by her family.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Michael D.Russell, with whom she enjoyed converting dreams to memories during their 46 years of marriage. She was a loving sister to Janet Pimental and Joyce Pimental and cherished sister-in-law to their husbands, Edmund Durand of Attleboro and Christopher Palmer of Plainville. She is also survived and loved by sister-in-law, Linda Crossman and husband Kim, brother-in-law, Edward Russell and wife Kathy, and brother-in-law Steven Russell and wife Judy.
Nancy was born in Attleboro on January 13, 1956, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Gonsalves) Pimental.
Nancy received her BS and MPH degrees from Boston University. She began a career as a civilian, research scientist at USARIEM at the Natick Labs. Her research involved testing, evaluating, and recommending the best uniform, protective gear, and equipment for the US soldier. Later she moved to NCTRF where she did similar research for the US sailor. She coauthored numerous scientific publications and was nominated for, and completed, the DoD ELDP intensive training program.
While still in college, Nancy was introduced to the love of her life, Mike, by his sister, Linda at a post-Patriots game party. They married in 1979 and eventually moved to Lincoln where they lived for 32 years. Nancy was a very strong person and, as a three-time cancer survivor, faced many challenges throughout her life, never surrendering, and always exuding positive energy to others. She ended her career after 19 years to care for her parents. She was very active in her community volunteering and working to help others. She chaired the Lincoln Celebrations Committee for many years. Nancy used her exceptional organizational skills and creativity to orchestrate fundraising and spirit-raising activities to fight cancer at numerous events. These activities she continued throughout her retired life. In more recent years, she and her husband became snowbirds, wintering in Florida where she enjoyed the weather, community and renovating a park model mobile home.
Nancy always had a welcoming smile, a warm touch, a kind word and was willing to help those in need. She was a joy to be around and will be missed by her family and many friends.
A celebration of life event is being planned for spring.
