DARTMOUTH - Richard L. McAndrew, 71, passed away on December 28, 2025. He was the husband of the late Jeanne (Boucher) McAndrew.

Richard was born in Fall River and was the son of the late Richard B. McAndrew and Mugette (Fournier) McAndrew.

Richard was a graduate of Tiverton High School and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The first of his family to attend and graduate college, Richard was proud of his accomplishments and went on to hold a long and rewarding career as a steam and diesel engineer. As a Merchant Marine, Richard traveled the world during his time at sea and held first, second, and third mate licenses and also acquired his chief engineer license, the crowning achievement of his career. He was extremely charitable, even when the funds were low. Richard tutored many classmates to ensure their graduation and continued his commitment to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Alumni Association to the very end. He was an extremely gifted, intelligent and hardworking man, and he will be deeply missed by his family and those who knew him best.

Richard is survived by his children, Kerrie Thibault and her husband Christopher of Norman, OK, Eric McAndrew of Dartmouth and Jason McAndrew and his partner Heather Cirelli of North Dighton; his brother George McAndrew and his wife PJ of Fall River. Also the grandchildren, AshtonThibault, twins Jacob and Sarah Thibault, Emma Cirelli and Jacqueline McAndrew.

He was the brother of the late Robert McAndrew of CA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Wednesday, January 7th from 8-9am in the Donaghy-New Day Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford MA. Funeral mass to follow at 10am at Holy Trinity Church in Fall River, MA.

Burial will follow in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.

Catered reception to follow the burial at Dartmouth Bible Church, 52 Morton Ave., Dartmouth, MA where there will be an opportunity to celebrate, speak and share memories of Richard.
