Richard Richardson, 73, of New Bedford MA., passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at home with his wife by his side. He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Ryan) Richardson. Born  in Brighton MA, he was the son of the late June Richardson. Richie resided in New Bedford for most of his life and was a graduate of Everett Vocational Technical High School and was employed at Tremblay's Bus Company. He served in the United States Marine Corp. and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Richard was a very laid back man and often referred to as "Cool Rich." He enjoyed fishing, the movies, road trips, to the Cape with his wife and spending time with his grandthildrenwho were his pride and joy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Betty Richelle Richardson, and Jason DeGrace Sr (wife Tamara), siblings: David Richardson, Donald Richardson(wife Delisha), Cheryl Richardson, and Derek Richardson, grandchildren: Derell Johnson, Sade Thomas, Jason DeGrace Jr., Jaydn Barros, Ja'Vare DeGrace, Javon DeGrace, and Jaquan DeGrace, great grandchildren: Zaelyn Johnson and Azy'as Barros, goddaughters: Alicia Cruz and Catherine Ryan, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Dawn Richardson, and grandfather of the late Ariana Duson DeGrace and son in law of the late Henry DeGrace.

Richard's private funeral arrangements are under the care of Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 450 County St. New Bedford, MA.
