NEW BEDFORD-Richard D. Santos, 69, passed away on August 25, 2023 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Alice (DaSilva) Santos.

Richard was born in Acushnet and was the son of the late John Santos and Adeline (Lessa) Santos.

Richie was a graduate of New Bedford High School and was employed locally for many years until his retirement. Richie was a talented athlete in his younger years and was a huge sports fan and a diehard Raiders fan. He enjoyed playing softball, loved to spend his time at the beach and looked forward to yearly cruises with Mickey and Marie, his loving niece Dawn and friends Randall, Sharon and Marie.& Richie was a man who enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer and always made time to spend with his family and his beloved grandson Matthew. He will be remembered by those who knew him best as a friendly and outgoing man who cherished his wife, his sons and his cats.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Stephen Nogueira and his girlfriend Crystal Dutra and Michael Nogueira all of New Bedford; grandson, Matthew Nogueira and many siblings, nieces and nephews.

Private arrangements have be entrusted to the Donaghy-New Day Funeral Home, New Bedford.
