Rita D. (Carreau) Barselou, 86, of New Bedford passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Sacred Heart Home in New Bedford.& She was the loving wife of Albert F. Barselou.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Aldor Carreau and Simmone (Pothier) Duvager, she was a lifelong resident of the city and communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Rita had been a stitcher for many years prior to earning her degree from BCC and then becoming a healthcare worker for CMHS in Dartmouth.

She is survived by her husband Albert; son, Donald J. Barselou of New Bedford; grandchildren, Seth Barselou, Nathaniel Monteiro, Mary Gladu and Rene Barselou, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barselou was the mother of the late Rene, Maurice and Jeanine Barselou and sister of the late Roger, Roland and Muriel.

She will be cremated, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 11am at Holy Name of the Sacred heart of Jesus Church followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
