FAIRHAVEN – Rita A. (Grimes) Costa of Fairhaven, 94, passed away peacefully, at home, June 24, 2025, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was the beloved daughter of the late Leo F. and Doris (Beck) Grimes.

She is survived by her children, Daniel, Kathleen and Robert. She was also predeceased by her brother Robert F. Grimes and his wife Theresa.

Rita is also survived by five grandchildren, Andrea, Julie, Heidi, Nicole and Robert and five great grandchildren, Rowan, Connor, August, Gavin and Phoebe and nieces and nephews, Robin, Donna, Gary and Matthew. She was predeceased by her nephew Michael.

Rita was born in New Bedford, a graduate of New Bedford High School and Kinyon Campbell Secretarial School. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven and a member of the Catholic Woman's Club.

Rita was such a kind considerate and caring woman, who touched the lives of so many. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends, loved to read and was an avid New England Patriots Fan.
